BS 6469 specifies the methods to be used for testingpolymeric insulating and sheathing materials of electric cables.
This section of BS 6469 gives methods for non-electrical tests not included in the CENELECHarmonization Document HD 505,and hence notgiven in BS EN 60811 or other Sections of BS 6469.The methods of test described in this section ofBS 6469 are as follows:
a)tensile test on polyurethane sheath after immersion in water;
b)tear resistance test for polyurethane sheath;
c)determination of the saponification value of the polyurethane sheath.
